- Gas smell or CO alarm: get everyone out and call 911 from outside
- Basic checks: thermostat on Heat, furnace switch on, breaker not tripped

- Outside pipes: clear snow and frost
- Stay warm: close blinds, shut unused rooms, keep everyone together

Protect your pipes
A burst pipe can cost more than the furnace repair.
- Pipes on outside walls, crawl spaces and garages freeze first
- Open cabinet doors under sinks on outside walls
- Let a tap drip slightly
- Leaving the house? Tell us so we can talk through the risk

Frequently Asked Questions
Are you really open 24 hours?
Yes. GBL HVAC LTD answers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays. Call 403-970-6988.
Do you charge extra for after-hours calls?
Ask when you call. We'll explain how the visit is charged before we come out, so there are no surprises.
How cold will my house get without heat?
It depends on the outside temperature, your insulation and how airtight the house is. In a deep cold snap a house can lose a lot of heat overnight, which is why we recommend protecting pipes on outside walls and calling right away rather than waiting until morning.
My carbon monoxide alarm went off. Should I call you?
Call 911 first and get everyone out of the house. Once emergency responders say it's safe, call us to inspect and repair the furnace or other appliance involved.
Do you handle emergency calls for businesses?
Yes. We answer commercial heating emergencies around the clock for restaurants, stores, offices and other businesses in Calgary.
